2009 NCAA FINAL FOUR CHAMPIONSHIP - FORD FIELD - Detroit, MI

The NCAA Final Four is an American tradition that started in 1939. From Selection
Sunday to the Sweet Sixteen, to March Madness and the Elite Eight each process leads to the road of the final four. The final four focuses on the last four teams remaining in the playoffs commonly known as the knock-out tournaments (also known as the semi-finals). The men’s tournament begins with 65 teams. The first game is played by the two weakest teams deemed by the NCAA Selection Committee then the countdown begins. From 64 teams to the final four this NCAA tournament is the process of elimination.

Over 65 teams participate in this event, four will make it to the finals and only one team will hold as the title of the 2006 NCAA Final Four Champions. The Final Four Tournament has been around for nearly seventy-five years. As a part of the Final Four history, it is a tradition that the NCAA hosts the final four in Indianapolis every four years due to the fact that the headquarters is located in Indianapolis. In 2009, the Final Four will make its’ way to the Motor City, the site of the 2008 PGA Championship, the 2006 Super Bowl, the 2005 MLB All-Star Game, and the 2004 Ryder Cup.
